Dr. Janet Tupou

for Kaipātiki Local Board

Kia ora, and warm Pacific greetings!

The face of the North Shore is changing and now more than ever, diversity and inclusion in all areas is absolutely crucial. Being part of the Shore Action team will give me the opportunity to elevate the voices of Pasifika Peoples in the Kaipātiki area.

I am a proud Tongan born in Aotearoa, raised on Auckland’s North Shore. I attended Paremoremo Primary School, Northcross Intermediate and I was the first ever Tongan Deputy Head Girl at Westlake Girls High School. I studied Communication Studies at AUT University and have 6 qualifications including a PhD in Communication Studies.

It is my personal and collective mission to reflect voices that are often muted in our community and to provide compelling alternatives. My background in research, systems change, evaluation and community work will bring a refreshing point of difference.
